Dr. T. Boult Dr. Boult, one of three El Pomar Professors at UCCS, is the visionary and champion behind the BI program. An innovator himself he has been involved in 3 successful startups, has 5 patents, 8 pending and over $2M in research funding. His current company, http://www.securics.com, has 3 joint projects with UCCS employing 5 undergraduate students. His Vision and Security Technology (VAST) lab, www.vast.uccs.edu, has a dozen projects and employes more than a dozen undergraduates students.

Dr. Chamillard Dr. Chamillard, who leads the efforts of the BI in Game Design and Development (GDD). Dr. Chamillard's research is in CS education and in software engineering. He leads our Stegi@Work STTR effort a local company, a project that has employed 9 students, including multiple undergraduates. Dr Chamillard teaches the majority of the Game courses, and is personally leading the development of the "Bachelor of Innovation" game.

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs seeks an innovative scholar in Engineering or Business for the executive director of the BI program. The job description is below.

The BI is a unique program and the ideal candidate for the position might also be seen as somewhat non-traditional. Of course we expect solid academic experience and research publications detailed in your CV. In addition, your cover letter/personal statement should address why you feel your background matches with the BI program, your views on teaching innovation and discuss your experience in transforming ideas to impact the world, or taking products to market.

BI Program Executive Job Description

College of Business and College of Engineering and Applied Science

Position Number: 471301

Nature of Work  The BI Program Executive operates as the overall Chief Operating Officer and provides leadership and direction and management for all facets of the program.  The primary goal of this position is to ensure the quality of the program and its delivery to the students.  The position also ensures that the requirements set forth by the BI Program committee and co-directors, as well as the program accrediting bodies ABET and AACSB are being incorporated and monitored. Implement program policies and procedures, assuring that they are, were appropriate, in compliance with the AACSB and ABET accreditation guidelines. Develop and instruct BI classes. Oversee and actively participate in resolution of academic and non-academic code of conduct violations. Coordinate program curriculum with BI Academic Advisors and BI Faculty Co-directors.

Facilitate regular BI Program meetings with BI Faculty and Staff

Conduct regular BI Program meetings with BI students

Work with BI Faculty Co-directors to plan for and manage program growth

Work with BI Academic Advisors and BI Faculty Co-directors to schedule BI classes

Coordinate off-campus BI team sponsors and BI team interactions

Work with Academic Advisor to update program curriculum and courses

Coordinate BI seminars

Coordinate BI guest speakers

Coordinate Adjuncts and/or Community Entrepreneurs role in the BI classes

Help Implement the “innovation” aspects of the colleges and university’s strategic goals

Coordinate student recruitment

Supervise activities concerning BI Student affairs

Coordinate student retention Recruit and select BI students according to University and BI admission policies

Assist Academic Advisor with advising BI students

Meet with students to discuss their progress through the BI

Provide counseling to students when needed

Oversee and actively participate in resolution of academic and non-academic code of conduct violations

Identify and oversee internship and team-sponsorship program

Maintain contact with BI Alumni and oversee Alumni activities

Oversee BI Team Development Program

Solicit projects from companies for team assignments

Promote Colleges of EAS and Business in all aspects of the program

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated role in fostering innovation processes within an organization.

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in an academic and business environment.

Previous experience as in directing/organizing multi-disciplinary program.

Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations in a multi-cultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.

Teaching experience innovation, business and/or engineering.

Demonstrated leadership.

 

Minimum Requirements

Master’s in a field appropriate to business or engineering

Demonstrated role in fostering innovation processes within an organization.

Minimum of three years experience associated with innovation.

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in an academic and business environment.

 

Salary Range

$70,000

 

In accordance with Campus Policy 300-012, this salary can be supported as indicated in the attached analysis which was independently conducted by the Director of Human Resources.
